DESERT MOON

As the sun signals its morning appearance in the east, the full moon makes a hasty retreat in the west.  And, while the mountains of Southern California's Anza-Borrego Desert are painted by sunlight that's been filtered red by our thick, dusty atmosphere, the moon—some 240,000 miles away in the vacuum of space—continues to reflect the sun's unfiltered white light.
