CRESCENT SUNSET

With the sun barely a few degrees above the Australian horizon on December 4, 2002, the moon silently slipped in front of the sun to create a partial solar eclipse.  As the sun dipped lower toward the horizon, the eclipse deepened until it looked not unlike a Cheshire cat with a bright, crooked smile.
